Filitosa is about 25 minutes' drive from Casa Mare e Macchia, in Propriano. The prehistoric site is open from 1 April to 2 November and can be visited in a morning. You leave after breakfast, you are back for lunch, and the afternoon is yours.

The drive

25 minutes away from the house

Allow about 25 minutes' drive to the site, in the commune of Sollacaro, longer in July and August. Porto-Pollo and its lifeguarded beach are also about 25 minutes from the house, if you want to keep the coast for another day.

What to see at Filitosa

The statue-menhirs

Filitosa has statue-menhirs with carved faces, a thousand-year-old olive tree and a museum. The State listed the site as a historic monument in two stages, in 1967 and then in 1980.

An open-air visit

The route covers about 1.5 km outdoors. The site gives an hour and a quarter for the visit, sometimes an hour and a half. For families, a treasure hunt game comes with the paper guide. There are no bins on the site: bring a bag.

The 10.30am guided tour

The site runs a guided tour at 10.30am from June to September, except on Thursdays. It asks you to confirm it on 04 95 74 00 91.

The history of the site, the prices and the other prehistoric sites nearby are in our article on Filitosa.

The breakfast table: croissants, cakes under glass domes, bread, fruit and orange juice

Planning your morning from the house

Breakfast for the suites starts at 8am, and the site opens at 9am. With a 25-minute drive, you can be there for the 10.30am guided tour in summer, or for opening time if you prefer to walk while it is cool.

The archaeological site stays open until an hour before sunset, and the museum until 7pm. If you have kept the morning for the beach, you can also visit late in the day. Check the opening times on filitosa.fr before you set off.

In the afternoon, stay close to the house: Baracci beach or the Bains de Baracci, five minutes away, or the pool, heated and open all year. In a suite, the Pool Lounge serves a light menu from noon to 6pm, by the water. In the evening, L'Atelier des Sens lays its long table at 8pm, by reservation.

The living space: lounge, kitchen and wide windows onto the gulf

Suite or villa?

The villa sleeps four, children from the age of 12. That suits a family with two teenagers, and Filitosa offers a family rate for two adults and two young people aged 6 to 17. With the fitted kitchen, you have lunch at the house when you get back from the site.

As a couple, a suite is all you need: Luna level with the pool, Nina with its large terrace on the top floor, 30 m² each.
